Phygital Music Learning App for TuneClub

Phygital music learning app connecting digital practice to real-world performance - structured pathways, creator tools, and adaptive streaming in 12 weeks.

We built TuneClub, a phygital music learning app that bridges digital practice and live performance. Founded by Gabe Moynagh (Irish fiddle player, former cybersecurity CEO), the platform combines structured learning pathways with submission-based review, creator operations tools, and Mux-powered adaptive streaming - delivered in 12 weeks after a prior agency failed at UX.

Time to launch: Concept to launch for both web and mobile app, including full discovery and UX recovery from previous agency failure.

Learning pathways: Milestone-based progression connecting digital practice modules to real-world performance events.

Creator tools: Approval workflows, feedback questions, publishing rules, team roles, and activity log for course creators.

Streaming: Adaptive bitrate streaming with speed/pitch tools, thumbnails, captions, and low battery impact.

I came to 1Raft after another agency burned through my budget without shipping anything usable. They understood the vision immediately - connecting digital practice to live performance. The platform was in learners' hands in 12 weeks.

The Challenge

What we were up against

The founder's vision combined the best of MasterClass (structured learning), Patreon (creator community), Scoolinary (hands-on approach), and YouTube (curated content) - but a previous agency had failed to deliver the UX, and Gabe came to 1Raft specifically for streaming media expertise.

The core loop - practice, submit a recording, receive creator review, perform at a linked event - required tight integration between media tools, learning progression, and creator workflows that no off-the-shelf platform could handle.

Audio and video streaming needed to work reliably with speed/pitch adjustment tools and low battery impact, while supporting multiple user roles (Learner, Creator, Admin) with distinct permissions and workflows.

Frequently asked questions about this project

A phygital app bridges digital and physical experiences. In music education, this means learners practice online through structured modules, submit recordings for creator review, and then perform at linked real-world events. The digital platform tracks progress and readiness, while physical events provide motivation and accountability.
