Overview

You're leaving 10-15% of your shipping spend on the table

Logistics software development at RaftLabs focuses on the three areas that most directly move margin - carrier selection, warehouse efficiency, and supply chain visibility. We bring patterns from 100+ products across adjacent industries to build multi-carrier platforms, WMS optimization, predictive tracking, and route engines - each engineered for measurable cost reduction and operational speed.

Logistics runs on razor-thin margins where every inefficiency - a suboptimal carrier choice, a poorly slotted warehouse, a late delivery - compounds into millions in lost revenue. Most logistics operators still compare rates manually, manage warehouses with static slotting plans, and track shipments through carrier portals instead of a unified system.

Our multi-carrier platforms auto-select the cheapest reliable carrier for every parcel. Warehouse systems re-slot inventory weekly based on demand patterns. Tracking platforms predict delivery delays 6-12 hours before carriers report them.

Every product integrates with your existing TMS, WMS, and ERP - SAP, Oracle, Manhattan Associates, Blue Yonder, and custom platforms. We connect to carrier APIs, IoT devices, and telematics. No rip-and-replace required.

Industry Pain Points

What's broken in logistics

01

Multi-carrier rate comparison runs manually or through outdated rate tables, leaving 10-15% in shipping savings on the floor across parcel, LTL, and FTL

02

Warehouse slotting stays static - set once during layout and never updated - forcing pick times 30-40% longer than optimized layouts

03

Shipment tracking relies on carrier-provided data that's often 4-8 hours stale, leaving customer service without answers and customers without confidence

04

Route planning for local delivery uses fixed routes instead of dynamic optimization based on daily order patterns and traffic

05

Supply chain disruptions get identified reactively instead of predicted and mitigated - port delays, carrier capacity crunches, and weather events hit SLAs before anyone notices

06

Exception handling runs through email and spreadsheets, so a single stuck shipment ties up an ops lead for half a day

Solutions

Problems we solve in logistics

Each solution is built from patterns we've validated across 100+ products. No experiments on your budget.

01

Multi-carrier rate optimization

Compares rates, transit times, and reliability scores across carriers in real time for every shipment. Auto-selects the optimal carrier based on cost, speed, and service-level requirements. Handles parcel, LTL, FTL, and international.

02

Smart warehouse management

Dynamic slotting that repositions inventory based on velocity, order patterns, and seasonal demand. AI-optimized pick paths that cut walking distance and pick time. Wave planning that maximizes throughput during peak periods.

03

Predictive shipment tracking

Aggregates tracking data from every carrier into a single view. Predicts delays using weather, carrier performance history, and route data. Proactively notifies customers and triggers exception handling before missed SLAs.

04

Dynamic route optimization

Optimizes delivery routes daily based on order locations, time windows, vehicle capacity, traffic patterns, and driver hours. Re-optimizes in real time when new orders or cancellations arrive.

05

Supply chain risk intelligence

Monitors port congestion, carrier capacity, weather events, and geopolitical signals. Scores risk levels for active shipments and suggests mitigation actions - alternative carriers, routes, or sourcing - before disruptions hit delivery.

06

Carrier and lane performance analytics

Aggregates on-time, damage, and cost data across every carrier and lane. Surfaces underperforming carriers before contract renewal conversations instead of after another bad quarter.

Use Cases

Real-world use cases

Multi-carrier shipping platform for an e-commerce shipper

Problem

An e-commerce company shipping 180,000 parcels monthly used 4 carriers but picked carriers manually based on zone charts. Shipping costs ate 14% of revenue with no systematic optimization.

What we built

We built a multi-carrier rating engine that queries all carrier APIs in real time, factors in dimensional weight, surcharges, and transit time reliability, and auto-selects the optimal carrier for each shipment. Added a rules engine for service-level overrides and hazmat routing.

Result

Shipping costs dropped 12.4% - saving $1.8M annually. On-time delivery climbed from 91% to 96.2%. Carrier mix shifted dynamically, reducing dependence on any single carrier. Label generation dropped from 45 seconds to 3 seconds per shipment.

Warehouse optimization for a 3PL

Problem

A 3PL running a 340,000 sq ft warehouse with 28,000 SKUs used static slotting and paper-based picking. Average pick time was 4.2 minutes per line with a 2.1% error rate. Peak season overtime spiked 65%.

What we built

We built a WMS module with AI-driven slotting that re-optimizes weekly based on order velocity, pick frequency, and item affinity. Added optimized pick-path routing and a mobile-first picking interface with barcode scanning.

Result

Average pick time dropped to 2.6 minutes per line. Error rate fell to 0.4%. Peak season overtime fell 38%. Warehouse throughput climbed 48% without adding headcount or square footage.

Real-time tracking for a freight broker

Problem

A freight broker managing 2,400 active shipments daily relied on carrier portals and phone calls for status updates. Customer service answered 600+ "where is my shipment" calls per day. ETA accuracy was within 24 hours at best.

What we built

We built a unified tracking platform that aggregates data from every carrier via API, EDI, and telematics. Added a predictive ETA model trained on historical transit data, weather, and traffic. Customer-facing tracking page with proactive delay notifications.

Result

WISMO calls dropped 71%. ETA accuracy improved to within 2.3 hours. Customer satisfaction grew 1.2 points. Operations redirected 4 FTEs from tracking to revenue work.

Pattern Transfer

RaftLabs built real-time anomaly detection for fintech transaction monitoring before applying the same streaming-data architecture to shipment delay prediction. Both problems need high-velocity data streams processed, deviations from expected patterns detected, and automated responses triggered in seconds. The data changed from card authorizations to carrier scans. The engineering approach didn't.
