Grubly - Commission-Free Food Ordering Platform

$10K+ in transactions in 15 days, 10,000+ orders in month one, $5K saved on delivery commissions.

We built Grubly, our own SaaS food ordering platform that lets restaurants, cafes, and QSRs accept orders through QR-based mobile sites - eliminating third-party platform fees. Grubly processed $10K+ in transactions within 15 days of launch, handled 10,000+ orders in its first month, and saved partner restaurants $5K+ on delivery commissions.

The Challenge

What we were up against

Restaurants were paying 15-30% commission on every order to third-party delivery platforms, eroding already thin margins. A restaurant doing $50K/month in delivery orders was losing $7,500-$15,000 in platform fees alone.

Building a custom ordering app was too expensive and complex for most independent restaurants and small chains. They needed a solution that gave them branded ordering without a six-figure technology investment.

Dine-in ordering still relied on printed menus and manual order-taking, creating bottlenecks during peak hours and limiting upsell opportunities that digital menus with bestseller badges and promotions could provide.

Frequently asked questions about this project

Restaurants place QR codes on tables, menus, or marketing materials. Customers scan with their phone camera and see a mobile-optimized ordering site - no app download needed. They browse the menu, add items to cart, pay digitally, and the order appears on the restaurant's dashboard instantly. This eliminates the need for third-party delivery apps for dine-in and pickup orders.
